" It’s changed so much that it’s actually a proper mystical experience to be in the same place again."

you don't see many black people in Poland, we know, but try not to treat black Londoners as a tourist attraction you daft racist.

He'd probably go up to a black person and rub their head for good luck.

Or ask them if they know Barack Obama.

My roommate from years ago in the States (his dad was British military, so lived all over England) who now works in Canary Wharf but lives in Oxted.

A number of people here in Oxfordshire who have lived there.

My sister-in-law from Reading who lived and worked there for a few year when younger.

As I said, if the right set of opportunities came up, I would disregard them. I had a opportunity to join a program at Queen Mary a few years ago but professionally the one here was more prestigious. I still regret it a bit but my wife loves her job here.

Re: London top city
They were young children at the time they saw their first non-white person.

You are over fifty though and you still behave like an arsehole.

Why is this the case, Bats?

Nurse Ratched 11:21 Tue Mar 26
Re: London top city
Is it wrong that I've had tears rolling down, laughing at Pickle's kids crying because they saw a black chap?

It was a few years into life that I saw my first black person, to the point I remember it.

I did not cry. What were you telling your kids?

Re: London top city
I don't suppose any of those telling us how great London is actually live in Tower Hamlets, Newham, Tottenham, Ilford, Barking etc, etc or various other shit holes that come under the London banner

Re: London top city
I'm starting to think they might be Pickle's kids after all.

Hammer and Pickle 11:31 Tue Mar 26
Re: London top city
What’s your problem with children seeing black people for the first time Bats?

Tired of London tired of life

The full quote ……
"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
— Samuel Johnson

My favourite Dr Johnson quotation speaks to all us WHO regulars.

"No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money."
